Solar with all the Thanksgiving fixings: Inovateus gives thanks

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays at Inovateus Solar. Not only do we enjoy being surrounded by family and friends and tucking into a nap-inducing feast of turkey with all the fixings, the holiday also offers a chance to reflect on what we are thankful for, both in our personal and professional lives.

We are thankful for the Kokomo Solar 1 project, which will soon be completed (see the live video feed here). Although we’re thankful for all the solar systems we’re involved in developing, building or supplying, the 7 MW Kokomo project is located in our home state of Indiana and represents a new finance model for Inovateus, in which we are co-owners, not just builders. Plus, Kokomo is transforming a contaminated brownfield site into a solar farm—a blight-to-bright story that we hope will be a model for other municipalities wanting to put unused land to good use.

The Kokomo Tribune recently served up a nice helping of news about the project and then followed that coverage up with a tasty editorial page dessert. “This is fantastic news,” the Tribune op-ed said. “We are taking a 183-acre, former Superfund site poisoned by industry and turning it into a useful generator of clean, renewable energy.” We couldn’t agree more.

We are thankful for our safety record. Nothing is more important to us than the safety of our employees and the subcontractors and partners that we work with. Safety is part of Inovateus’ corporate DNA. So we’re happy to note that so far this year, Inovateus has seen no reportable accidents at our various solar construction project sites.

Of course, we are thankful for the prodigious expansion of the U.S. and global solar industry. In only a few years, the amount of solar installed in the U.S. has gone from a few gigawatts to more than 30 GW—and we’re just getting started. Inovateus is proud to have played a role in that growth, especially in regions like the Midwest and Southeast, where the solar revolution is just starting to take off.

Finally, we are thankful for our commercial, industrial, educational and utility customers, installer partners and suppliers that are working with us to build a brilliant tomorrow. Transitioning our world to clean solar power is a team effort, and we’re grateful to be working with all of you to make solar a reliable, cost-effective mainstream energy source today and for the foreseeable future.

Happy Thanksgiving!
