PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This Shedd Aquarium’s 265-KW rooftop solar installation consists of 913 photovoltaic panels located on the aquarium’s marine mammal pavilion. It is the largest solar installation on any cultural institution in Illinois. Inovateus Solar partnered with Schneider Electric to provide the end solution to Shedd Aquarium. The solar system helps power life-support equipment to the aquarium’s Great Lakes gallery. In addition to reducing costs and enhancing the building’s energy reserve and various life support systems, the system supports Shedd’s Great Lakes initiative to protect and preserve the lakes by reducing its reliance on traditional energy sources.
