Feb. 13, 2012 – SOUTH BEND, Ind. – South Bend’s Inovateus Solar LLC is opening a satellite office in Innovation Park at Notre Dame. The innovative solar energy company will use the location to engage engineering students as interns designing solar energy projects and to further the company’s research collaboration with the University of Notre Dame.
Inovateus Solar, founded in 2008, provides solar energy solutions in projects as diverse as charging stations for electric vehicles to large commercial rooftop and ground-mounted arrays in the United States and abroad. The company works with large corporations including GE Energy, utilities including the Detroit Edison Company, municipalities including the City of Grand Rapids and institutions like Valparaiso University. Inovateus Solar coordinated a project that resulted in donation and installation of a solar system on the roof of Fitzpatrick Hall of Engineering at Notre Dame that is expected to meet a portion of the facility’s energy needs as well as provide a research platform for students.
David Brenner, president and CEO of Innovation Park at Notre Dame, said, “A key element of our mission at Innovation Park is to connect entrepreneurs with University of Notre Dame resources, including faculty and students. Inovateus Solar’s decision to become a Park client illustrates the value of that mission to established companies as well as startups.
“Inovateus needed more space, and wants to involve engineering and science students in key project areas. They are working with university experts and students to develop their technology and we are thrilled to assist their commercialization efforts,” Brenner added.
“Inovateus Solar is extremely pleased to join the community at Notre Dame’s Innovation Park,” said Company President T.J. Kanczuzewski.
“We have opened a satellite office there and will be employing Notre Dame engineering interns interested in designing solar energy projects. The goal of the internship program is to provide students with a hands-on solar energy learning lab and hopefully offer them a job after they graduate,” Kanczuzewski said.
“As Notre Dame is one of the greatest assets our community has for business and technology development, Innovation Park provides us the opportunity to work closer with the University and interact with other forward-thinking companies. The team at Innovation Park is doing a phenomenal job and has given us a warm welcome. We look forward to all of the future business opportunities that may present themselves by being a member of Innovation Park.”
