Inovateus solar posters: Jordan Richardson catches some solar air

The inspiration behind my solar poster, Solar Air, comes from an iconic athlete who exemplifies the principles of hard work, discipline and dedication—Michael Jordan, MJ, Air Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time. He’s a leader who took his team to six NBA championships and has the ability to motivate, support and inspire others, something I aspire to do every day.MJ once said that “some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, and others make it happen.” I’m a firm believer in making true commitments and taking action. Success takes more than wishes, hopes and dreams, you have to really want it. I want to be known by my team as a leader, as that go-to person in a tough situation, and as someone accountable who achieves results.

Michael hit hundreds of shots in clutch situations. On the other hand, MJ was entrusted to take some game-winning shots that he ultimately missed—26 times. Leaders do not make excuses. There has to be a high level of quality in all efforts, off the court, on the court, in the classroom, on the playground, inside the meeting room, outside of work. Those skills must transfer and translate in all aspects of your life, and at times you’ll have to “take one” for the good of the team. Sacrifice is key.

It’s important for leaders to give the team the resources necessary to get the project done and put them in position to win. I manage critical operations activities to ensure the efficient installation of solar systems in my role as a project coordinator at Inovateus. I need to demonstrate confidence, when times are good or bad and the game is on the line. Whether I’m overseeing a project schedule, managing accounts for my side business Jungle Rose Cartel, or simply striving to set a positive example for those who look up to me, when the ball is in my court, I’m not dropping it.

It’s important to educate others and to demonstrate the benefits of solar energy. The movement toward a sustainable future is gaining awareness, and it’s up to all of us to keep feeding that momentum. As our President TJ Kanczuzewski likes to say, “Teamwork makes the dream work!”
