From a young age, I have had an affinity for the outdoors, and over time that affinity has developed into a strong passion to protect the environment. My solar poster, “Solar Traveler,” captures my love of exploring the outdoors as well as my enthusiasm for solar energy all in one.
During the summer of 2015, I embarked on a 100-day dream road trip with my dog, Mello, to expand my horizons and test my skills as a solo adventurer. Mello and I covered thousands of miles in my converted Chevy Astrovan “adventuremobile” (AKA Vincent Van-Go!) as we traveled through the Midwest, Southwest and Pacific Northwest, exploring forest service roads, back-country campsites and unspoiled public lands managed by the Department of Natural Resources and Bureau of Land Management.
It was an incredible, bucket-list-worthy trip that opened my eyes to the amazing opportunities to explore nature that could be found, for the most part, within a day’s drive of my Indiana home.
Solar and energy storage products could also be found among my essential gear for the trip. Camping and traveling in these isolated landscapes, you don’t find many plugs to charge up a cellphone or power a light, so I brought along a Goal Zero kit.
Based on my experiences, I can personally recommend Goal Zero’s lineup of plug-and-play, solar and battery solutions for photographers, travelers, campers, outdoor sports enthusiasts, and off-gridders. I even had a chance to visit Goal Zero’s headquarters in Utah. Coincidentally, I found out after joining Inovateus that we offer one of these off-grid kits.
