PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Auburn Renewables Solar Array is an operational solar farm located south of Auburn, Indiana, on an 80-acre site. The solar farm, installed by Inovateus Solar, has been generating clean energy since 2022. The project produces 14.68 MW of direct current or 11.25 MW of alternating current, contributing renewable power to the local utility grid.
The solar array is designed with environmental care, featuring landscaping around its edges and a focus on maintaining a clean, orderly appearance. Additionally, the project incorporates agrovoltaics, with plans to grow shade-tolerant crops, such as strawberries or tomatoes, beneath the solar panels. The project has attracted interest from Michigan State University, which plans to conduct a case study on this innovative approach.
The solar farm is also surrounded by a fence with fabric and topped with barbed wire for security, and has been designed to have minimal environmental impact once operational. Inovateus Solar has emphasized that the project does not involve hazardous materials and aims to provide sustainable, clean energy without harming the surrounding land.
