#ThinkSolar: Inovateus heads to the races with IndyCar driver Stefan Wilson

When most people think about IndyCars, solar isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But that could be changing with our new solar advocacy partnership with Indianapolis 500 racecar driver Stefan Wilson and his #ThinkSolar campaign.

For the past several months, our Inovateus solar team has been advising Stefan on the campaign and its mission is to spread awareness about the proliferation of solar power throughout the world. We’ve loved working with Stefan so much, we couldn’t pass on an opportunity to support him racing to the finish line. His passion for solar inspires his fans as well as the Inovateus team, and we wish him the best of luck in this year’s race.

As part of its solar advocacy support for Stefan, Inovateus will offset the carbon footprint of his Indy 500 campaign through donations of solar lights to African families via LetsThinkSolar.com and SolarAid.

The more solar lanterns purchased by IndyCar and solar advocates, the more other IndyCar teams’ carbon footprint can be offset as well. We hope both solar and racing fans will join us and donate to the #ThinkSolar and SolarAid campaign and share our solar message with their friends.

While it may seem like solar and the Indy 500 don’t have a lot in common, they already have a strong connection. A good portion of the energy consumption at the Indianapolis Speedway is actually offset by a solar system comprised of 39,314 PV panels with an installed total capacity of 9 megawatts.

“Having Inovateus Solar onboard represents the culmination of a lot of hard work,” Stefan told us on one of his visits. “You’ve been very supportive of my solar campaign, and to have you join us with Driven2SaveLives means a lot. Both causes represent building a brighter tomorrow, innovating new energy solutions, and saving lives.”

Stefan will soon step into his No. 25 Driven2SaveLives-KVRT Chevy to begin qualifying runs for the 100th running of Indy 500, which takes place at the Brickyard on May 29.
