SOUTH BEND, Ind. — South Bend’s Inovateus Solar LLC recently completed construction of a 1.29-megawatt solar project in Totowa, New Jersey at one of Kari-Out Company LLC’s multiple locations on the east coast. The new state-of-the-art solar collection array was constructed atop Kari-Out’s 250,000 square foot warehouse and production plant.
The installation is projected to save Kari-Out $150,000 annually in energy costs. Under the New Jersey renewable energy credit program, Kari-Out also expects to receive another $250,000 annually by selling Renewable Energy Credits to Public Service Electric & Gas. For these reasons, the ROI for the company’s investment in the solar energy array is incredibly short, at only five years. Work on the 1.29-megawatt solar energy system was completed in six short months.
Peter Rienks, account executive for Inovateus, said the project involved some tricky dynamics due to space concerns and differing structure heights. “Working closely with the architects, building officials, and structural engineers,” Rienks explains, “we were able to put together a working design that maximized DC capacity and AC production for Kari-Out.”
“We found Inovateus Solar to be creative, dedicated and committed,” said Phil Blumenfeld, who oversaw the project as a consultant to Kari-Out Company. “The team at Inovateus is made up of good business people. They are also wonderful and cooperative—exactly the kind of people I like to deal with.”
“Kari-Out’s satisfaction was our number one priority,” Rienks says. “It’s always a pleasure to work with established businessmen who are innovative and want to diversify their company. The Epstein family and Mr. Blumenfeld were a joy to work with and we look forward to other projects with this unique company.”
