Iowa, Center of the Country, and the Sustainability Movement

As 2019 draws to a close, the year marks a pivotal time of on-going growth for the team here at Inovateus Solar. Our team has been fine-tuning our sustainability actions, both in terms of expanding the sustainable services we offer our customers and implementing new initiatives into our internal operations. Inovateus is committed to Building a Brilliant Tomorrow through our stewardship goals, which aim to adhere to the core mission of sustainability by leaving a healthy, clean planet for future generations.

At Inovateus, we know solar energy can be just one component of the strategic goals for our customers pursuing sustainable solutions.  I work with the Inovateus Stewardship team to provide a holistic approach to the hurdles green-minded businesses must deal with. We understand sustainability requires constant evolution, adjustment, and progress. Therefore, on-going education is vital to our mission.

I recently had the distinct pleasure of attending the 2019 Growing Sustainable Communities Conference in Dubuque, Iowa. The event is the largest and longest- standing sustainability conference in the Midwest. The conference brings together an impressive mix of community leaders, city planners, sustainability and energy professionals, and academics to share best sustainable practices.

Over two days, I attended works shops, presentations, and panel discussions highlighting the amazing work communities across the country are engaging in.  Events like this can really drive education, inspiration and collaboration on topics of interest from a wide range of attendees deeply focused on sustainable practices.  Many community leaders I met expressed their goals for clean energy and were excited to be learning from the success and missteps of other communities who had already acquired renewable energy.  Other issues the conference provided excellent insight on included brownfield redevelopment, waste management, green building design, and permitting processes to encourage more sustainable development practices.

A very thought-provoking round table dinner discussion I was able to attend involved a large contingent of city leaders and energy professionals was hosted by Green Generation. Green Gen is an energy consulting group who operates worldwide to provide cost-savings to their clients.  This packed dinner was a clear demonstration of the growing demand for responsible, long-term energy planning businesses and cities are pursuing.

I was able to bring a wealth of information and new contacts back to our Stewardship team following this conference. I very much am looking forward to seeing our team implement new tactics and practices as well as continuing to build on our sustainability acumen.
