High Bridge Solar is a proposed 12MWac solar project located on private property at 510 Cedar Avenue in the Town of Farmville, Virginia. The project will sit on approximately 80 acres of the 131-acre parcel and be screened to the fullest extent to prevent a viewshed from neighboring property owners and roads. High Bridge Solar will interconnect to the grid via the existing overhead electric distribution poles located on the project parcel within the existing transmission easement running NW to SE. Ancillary project facilities will include electrical equipment pads, utility infrastructure and erosion control/stormwater management facilities. Native, pollinator-friendly vegetation will be maintained across the site to assist in controlling erosion and promote a diverse ecological habitat.

There are many positive impacts that a solar facility can have on the land including but not limited to:

Improving soil health and retaining water
- Solar projects have a life expectancy of about 35+ years. During this time, the soil becomes stabilized and, in many cases, makes the soil more viable for agricultural uses than prior to the construction of the project
- With the land not being touched for the life of the project, deteriorated streams that were once thriving are given the chance to flow again with the potential to become suitable habitat for many threatened and endangered species.
Nurturing native species like pollinators
- We voluntarily plant pollinator habitats on our projects by using local seed mixes that are native to the area. This also provides extra nutrients to the soil.

Solar generating facilities are one of very few non-permanent developments that allow the current landowner to retain ownership of the property and immediate availability for agricultural uses upon decommissioning, if desired.

At the end of the lease term, High Bridge Solar is responsible for decommissioning the solar array and returning the land back to its original state. Decommissioning a solar project involves fully restoring the land so that it can once again be used for agricultural production or another use. This includes de-compacting any compacted soil, supplementing areas as needed with native soils, revegetating the land to help with erosion and dust control or preparing it for future use.
